What information does Snug collect?
Snug collects information necessary to provide its services, primarily:
- User-Provided Information: Details you enter directly into your Snug profile or application (e.g., name, contact details, rental history, employment details, income documents).
- Authorised Third-Party Information: Data retrieved from external services when you authorise it (e.g., background check results).
Snug aims to collect only the minimum information required for the actions you request.
What information can users delete themselves?
You have direct control to delete the following from your profile at any time:
- Snug Profile Details: Log in and click “remove” on specific profile elements you wish to delete.
- Background Check Results: Information shared with third-party providers like Equifax is subject to their terms, but you can typically remove the check results from displaying on your Snug profile.
What information does the system generate?
- Cookies: Used for authentication and optimising user experience.
- User Sessions: Website usage data may be stored temporarily via optimisation software to improve usability and service (typically anonymised).
- Database Backups: Created by the hosting provider (Amazon Web Services) and systematically deleted according to retention policies.
Does Snug collect Facebook social data?
- No. If you register using Facebook, Snug only uses the basic login information (name, email, mobile) similar to a standard registration. Snug does not collect social data like date of birth or friends lists.
Can I delete my information and account?
- Yes. Snug supports data privacy best practices and user control. You can delete profile information yourself, and you can request irreversible deletion of your entire account. Please see: How do I delete my user account and profile information?
Third-Party Data Deletion
During your use of Snug, you might have consented to sharing details with third-party services. To delete your data held by these services, you generally need to contact them directly. Snug cannot verify the completion of these external deletion requests. Examples include:
- Tenancy Screening: Equifax National Tenancy Database, TICA (https://www.tica.com.au/)
- Utility Connection Partners: Direct Connect, Ray White Home Now, My Connect.

- Zendesk.com: Snug deletes user data, Zendesk permanently deletes after 30 days.
- Ortto.com: Submit deletion request directly via https://prighter.com/cc/ortto.
- Pipedrive.com: Snug deletes user data, Pipedrive permanently deletes after 30 days.
- Stripe.com: Payment records are retained for accounting/tax. For Direct Debit, disconnect linked accounts via https://support.stripe.com/user/how-do-i-disconnect-my-linked-financial-account.
