When an application is previously Declined but is later moved back to Processing, Snug will send the applicant an email that says Application reopened.
This article explains why that happens, what to do next, and how to prevent it.
Why this happens
In Snug, application status changes can trigger email notifications to keep renters informed. If an application moves from Declined back to Processing, Snug assumes the application has been reopened, so it sends the Application reopened email automatically.
What to do if this happened by mistake
If the application should not be reopened:
- Open the property and go to the application list.
- Find the relevant applicant.
- Change the application status back to Declined (if that is the intended outcome).
- If the renter contacts you, let them know the email was triggered by an application status update and confirm whether they need to take any action.
How to prevent this in future
- Double-check you’re updating the correct applicant before changing an application status.
- Avoid moving a declined application back to Processing unless you intend to reopen it.
- If you want a renter to apply again, use the re-invite / invite to apply option instead of changing statuses back and forth.
