Overview
In States requiring Prescribed Application Forms, Snug automatically displays the required format when you apply through a property's direct apply link on a property page, SMS link or email button.
Important: The universal Apply Anywhere general link (app.snug.com/apply) is not currently available for Prescribed Forms.
Why can't I use Apply Anywhere for certain properties?
Apply Anywhere is designed as a universal form. Some States legislation requires a specific prescribed form that:
- Limits the information collected to only what is permitted under the new regulations
- Caps supporting documents to a maximum of two identity documents, two financial documents, two suitability documents
- Includes mandatory disclosures
- Follows the structure set out by the State regulator
How to apply for a property in a Prescribed Form area
Step 1: Get the property's direct apply link
Ask your property manager or real estate agent for the property's direct apply link from Snug. This is a unique link specific to that property listing.
Step 2: Open the link and start your application
When you open the direct apply link, you'll see the Getting started page. This page displays the property details, agency details, and information about residential tenancy databases.
Step 3: Complete each section of the form
Work through each section in the left-hand menu:
- Getting started : Review property and agency details
- Household : Enter details about who will live at the property
- Employment details : Provide current or most recent employment information
- Financial information : Upload up to two financial documents (e.g. payslips, Centrelink statement)
- Identity : Upload up to two identity documents (e.g. driver's licence, passport)
- Address history : Provide your current and previous residential addresses
- References : Add contact details for two personal references
- Term of rental agreement : Confirm your preferred lease term and start date
- Review and submit : Review all details and submit your application
Step 4: Submit
Once you've reviewed everything, submit your application. You'll receive a confirmation with your Application ID.
What if the property is off-market or not yet listed?
If the property is not advertised on portals, property managers can create it directly in Snug:
- Log in to the Snug Property Manager Dashboard
- Click +Add in the upper left corner
- Select Property
- Fill in the property details (including the address)
- Copy the direct apply link and share it with the applicant
This ensures the system detects the property's location and applies the prescribed form accordingly.

Can I reuse my Snug Profile for Prescribed Form applications?
Yes. Your saved Snug Profile information will pre-fill into the prescribed form where applicable, saving you time.
